POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Organizational Engagement has responsibility for planning, implementing and directing fundraising activities of the East Texas Food Bank.

This includes, but is not limited to Corporate Gifts, Foundation Gifts, and Public Sector programs. Strong focus will be placed on corporate donations and generating gifts from new prospects and expanding fundraising efforts into previously untapped locales within the service territory as well as maximizing existing campaigns and events.

The Director of Organizational Engagement works under the direct supervision of the Chief Development Officer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Works with Chief Development Officer (CDO) to develop and implement fundraising and program strategies that effectively identify, build and expand current and prospective donors.
• Works in collaboration with the Philanthropy and Engagement Director to ensure a uniform message and voice to all donors.
• Establishes forecasts and evaluates fundraising potential; researches and identifies sources of funds to support Food Bank programs.
• Develops, in collaboration with CDO, budget and strategic plan drafts. Creates action plans, methods, materials, procedures and reports for each event and campaign to enhance effectiveness and maximize revenue.
• Works with Communications and Marketing Director as required on creation / editing of appeals for seasonal campaigns and special events.
• Manages Corporate Engagement Advisors in developing strategies to expand the pool of corporate donors with creation and implementation of guidelines for donor stewardship and effectively and enthusiastically conveying the organization’s appreciation.
• Works with the Volunteer Coordinator and Corporate Engagement Advisors to implement a comprehensive corporate stewardship program.
• Works collaboratively with the Communications Department to employ innovative methods to communicate the Food Bank’s mission in personal communications or through the use of brochures, press releases, newsletters, annual report and website to increase community awareness, enthusiasm and giving.
• Manages grants staff in cultivating foundation, corporate and government relationships.
• Contributes to the development of external relationships and coalitions; Stays abreast of relevant development opportunities with various community groups and agencies.
• Evaluates the effectiveness of the Food Bank’s development programs
• In collaboration with the CDO, develops and implements innovative strategies for continually improving the Food Bank’s impact, effectiveness and quality of fundraising activities
• Provides direction on funding potential of established and future programs. Works closely with the Impact Department to implement plans, budgets and forecasts, build community awareness and cultivate relationships.
• Other responsibilities as assigned by the CDO or CEO.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree; course work or professional certification in related field preferred.
• Minimum of five years successful fundraising experience, that includes planning and capital campaigns that involve multiple fundraising disciplines and strategies;
• Experience managing staff, working directly with high-level donors; and direct solicitation of potential donors.
• Experience working with / alongside a variety of corporations in the East Texas area.
• Commitment to the Food Bank’s values and mission is essential.

• Solid track record with progressive management techniques and motivating employees
• Detail and results oriented
• Excellent writing skills including grant proposal development and business correspondence
• Team player, willingness to help others achieve success in fundraising campaigns
• Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, organizational and client service skills required
• Willing to work flexible schedule
• Integrated and familiar with the East Texas community
• Technologically proficient. Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Office programs

Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and ability to quickly learn new software, client databases & inventory software a plus

• Strong analytical, technical, and time management skills
• Proven ability to collaborate with diverse groups of people
• Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position works in an office environment but may require approximately 25% local travel and some weekends.
