Salary Range : $37,182 - $59,864
Purpose of Classification :
The purpose of this classification is to perform surface preparation and journeyman level painting for an assigned department.
This classification is safety sensitive, subject to random drug testing in accordance with the County's Drug & Alcohol Policy.
Essential Functions :
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification.
Other duties may be required and assigned.
Performs skilled painting tasks in the application of paint to a variety of surfaces; obtains paints and various paint related supplies such as brushes, rollers, paint pans, paint tape, spackling, and others;
and prepares paint for application by stirring, matching colors, blending, and thinning as necessary.
Prepares surfaces for paint application by smoothing surfaces, removing old paint, filling holes and cracks or other methods as appropriate;
and cleans surfaces and protects work areas for potential paint damage.
Orders and obtains paint and related supplies from various vendors and keeps track of inventory of supplies received and used;
and maintains records of paint usage and completes work orders at completion of job.
Applies paints, lacquers, sealers, bleaches, fillers, and stains to interior and exteriors of buildings, furniture and related structures and equipment;
and cleans work area and painting equipment when job is complete.
Minimum Qualifications :
High school diploma or GED required, three years of experience in interior and exterior painting; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience providing the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
