The Position
The Adler Planetarium is seeking a Content Marketing Specialist to join our dynamic team located on Chicago's Museum Campus.
This position requires a self-starting, highly collaborative, and organized creator with a deep passion for community building and engagement.
An excellent communicator who has a passion for storytelling, the Content Marketing Specialist works cross-departmentally to create educational, informative, and entertaining content for our digital channels to support our mission and meet other objectives such as building brand awareness, generating ticket sales, and the like.
This individual will also be responsible for :
Contributing to digital content strategy covering social media, blog, and email.
Executing social media strategy by writing posts, filming and editing videos, creating content to support both in-person and digital museum initiatives both independently and through collaboration with subject matter experts, and staying up-to-date with the latest content marketing trends and industry standards for social media.
Writing blogs and coordinating the creation and publication of blogs with content creators across the building to support overall content strategy goals and objectives.
Creating and implementing email marketing campaigns in service of organizational goals and objectives, including maintaining, building, and updating audience lists.
Leading monthly meetings with various departments to brainstorm and develop educational and creative content that supports digital and in-person museum initiatives and helps promote their work most effectively.
Occasionally attending Adler-hosted events or celestial events to capture and create content and / or moderate online programming that supports both in-person and digital museum initiatives.
Monitoring our follower community across all digital communication channels and managing our community engagement strategies by responding to customer service inquiries, interacting with fans daily, fostering engagement, and creating a supportive digital community.
Assisting the Digital Marketing Manager by monitoring and reviewing analytics of content and digital marketing campaigns to ensure they’re aligned with the established strategy.
Collaborating with Digital Marketing Manager and Digital Marketing Specialist to identify target audiences and understand their online behavior and preferences.
Staying up-to-date on emerging digital marketing technologies, and learning about astronomy and space science topics.
Other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule
35 hours per week, 9 am 5 pm with flextime / telecommute schedule 3 days a week telecommute,
2 days in the museum.
FT The Compensation & Benefits
Base Pay Range : $25.11 / hr. $27.08 / hr.

3 sick days as of date of hire (can accrue up to 6.5 days per year)

The Person
Required Qualifications :
Bachelor’s Degree or five + years of professional work experience.
Two years of relevant on-the-job digital marketing experience.
Exceptional storytelling ability through copywriting and basic photo and short-form video editing capabilities.
Full of ideas and capable of successfully executing those ideas (or assembling an internal team that can).
Proactive self-starter that is organized and incredibly detail-oriented.
Quick worker. Balancing the desire for perfection with the understanding of expectations and deadlines. Ability to juggle multiple tasks effectively.
Experienced in the following social and digital marketing management platforms (Facebook, Google, Instagram, X, Snapchat, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, Sprout Social, Mailchimp).
Outstanding communicator and writer.
Personable with the ability to work collaboratively with museum content creators, subject matter experts, and outside partners.
Fast learner and interested in ongoing trends and the latest developments in social and content marketing.
Preferred Qualifications :
Degree in journalism, marketing, new media, digital media, or related field.
Event or product photography experience preferred.
