Job Summary : Our client is seeking a highly skilled Lead Controls Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our engineering group, you will be instrumental in the design and development of advanced automation systems for various industries including automotive, aerospace, medical equipment, and more.
This role requires expertise in controls engineering, custom automation, precision machining, and proficiency with design tools such as AutoCAD.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with PLC and HMI systems (specifically Allen Bradley), robotics, servos, and other relevant technologies.
Responsibilities : Lead the design effort on assigned projects under the direction of the Director of Engineering. Develop control systems designs using AutoCAD, including power distribution, PLC, panel layouts, pneumatics, hydraulics, and instrumentation.
Write, document, and debug software for control systems. Manage project budgets and schedules in collaboration with the Project Manager.
Coordinate with the Controls Assembly Department during project build phases to resolve technical issues efficiently. Mentor and develop junior Controls Engineers, providing training and guidance on technical products and software.
Create and manage project schedules, ensuring milestones are met on time and within budget. Participate in machine installation and provide technical support as needed.

This is a full-time position based in St. Joseph or Buchanan, Michigan. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, with an expectation of 48 hours per week.
Some evening and weekend work may be required based on project demands, and approximately 20% travel is anticipated annually.
