SUMMARY :
Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Michigan, is seeking to hire a tenure-track Assistant and / or Associate Professor in the broad areas of electrical power systems and electrical machines.
Applicants must have, at the time of appointment, a Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering, power engineering, or a related field, and a potential for excellence in teaching and research in the areas of power systems, electric machinery, and power electronics.
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering houses six-degree programs : Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering (BSCmpE), Bachelor of Science in Embedded Software Engineering (BSESE), Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering (MSECE), Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence (MSAI), and Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical and Computer Engineering (PhDECE).
JOB DUTIES :
The successful candidate is required to teach graduate and undergraduate courses as assigned, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, and establish a strong, externally-funded research program in his / her area of expertise.
In addition, the successful candidate will teach courses in power and electrical engineering as assigned by the department chair, serve the department, college, and profession by undertaking committee work and leadership roles, and advise students.
The following is the list of duties :
- Teach and develop undergraduate and graduate courses in power and / or electrical engineering as assigned by the department chair.
- Develop and sustain strong externally-funded research programs.
- Advise undergraduate and graduate students.
- Direct student engineering projects.
- Participate in professional and university service activities.
- Keep regular office hours to provide easy access to students.
- Maintain current knowledge in fields of expertise.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE :
- Earned doctorate from an accredited university in electrical engineering, power engineering, or a related field. Postdoctoral experience is desirable.
- Demonstrable interest in teaching and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.
- Interest in establishing a robust and externally-funded research program.
- Experience in electrical engineering demonstrated by a strong publication record.
- Strong interest in programming.
- Ability to work in an interdisciplinary, collaborative team.
- Interest in working in a fast-paced research environment.
