Description

  • Provide direct medical care to students; this includes routine physical exams, sick visits, continuity of care, evaluation of injuries, occupational exposures (clinical students) Travel consultations, etc.
  • Manage students with complex health conditions. Refer students to appropriate specialty or hospital care with follow up communications.
  • Participate in weekend and evening shifts, as well as back-up to RN-run after-hours service.
  • Perform administrative tasks including complete records and patient correspondence; participate in performance improvement projects and outreach activities.
  • Opportunities to work gynecologic care and sports medicine on-site sessions.
  • Opportunities for on-site resident and student teaching.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MD / DO required. Board certification or board eligible (certification required within the first 3 years of employment) or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Board certification in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, or Pediatrics or preferable. Previous experience in a primary care setting preferred.

Current license to practice in Pennsylvania, DEA certification. Must be eligible for appointment in Department of Medicine or Family Practice at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Familiarization with electronic health record system preferred (Epic). Criminal background check required. Must be able to work cooperatively with a variety of individuals, exhibit appropriate sensitivity to others, and interface effectively with students, University staff and physicians, and University administrators.
