The work involves the use of cost engineering standard methodologies and processes for the capital cost estimation of a wide variety of projects.

What You Will Do :

• Prepare capital cost estimates including contingencies, market escalation, cash flow, and benchmarks to support future project economic evaluation.
• Create multiple estimates simultaneously through the standardized internal estimating process.
• Present and defend estimate and its basis to internal partners and Sr Management.
• Support various cost engineering reports and special studies using scientific principles and techniques, while ensuring the quality of inputs and outputs.
• Provide support and input for Cost Estimating Tool updates due to standard changes, industry practices and recent project experience.
• Liaise with other departments including supply chain, cost control, and area managers to ensure effective and accurate cost information is being used in the estimates.

Who You Are :

• Degree, diploma or certification or a combination of experience and education will be considered.
• Minimum of seven years of meaningful experience. Note for candidates who do not possess a university degree, an additional 3 years of related experience is required.
• Preference will be given to applicants with cost estimating backgrounds.
• Strong computing skills including proficiency with MS Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access).
• Ability to demonstrate initiative, problem-solving, and decision-making within scope of responsibility.
• Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work with people at all levels across the company.
• Well-developed prioritization, time management and multi-tasking skills.

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to :

Grasping, kneeling, light - moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.

Ability to : understand, remember and apply oral and / or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate / explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
