SAIS was founded to provide a practical approach to training students in international affairs and foreign relations, and to provide midcareer educational opportunities for those already working in related fields.

SAIS invites applications for a term faculty appointment at the lecturer, senior lecturer, or professor of practice level, specializing in technology and international affairs.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy to investigate methods for using emerging technologies to achieve policy objectives in areas such as development and sustainability, energy, food security, and governance.

The primary responsibility will involve teaching courses and supporting co-curricular activities within the Technology and Innovation Focus Area in Washington, 's experience and qualifications.

This appointment is a full-time, non-tenure track, renewable 9-month term position, scheduled to commence in the fall semester of 2024.

Candidates with either a STEM or international policy background are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

Master's degree required. , , or equivalent terminal degree strongly preferred. Preference will be given to candidates who have expertise related to experiential learning and the application of engaged teaching methods.

The successful candidate must have strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively interact with faculty from multiple disciplines and to be able to develop networks across broad communities of expertise.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination.

This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing.

Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers.

Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
