DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

The following tasks describe the basic functions of the job; not all tasks may be performed by each employee. Duties and assignments may vary based on feeder assignment and academic year.

The following frequencies and percentage of time spent are approximations only.

Assist mental health leadership in formally observing first and second year mental health personnel in assigned feeder.

Onboard early career professionals and coach in all aspects of school based mental health services. Support the progress of early career mental health professionals or as assigned by Director.

Support mental health professional on improvement plan by providing feedback, additional training, and assistance with goal-setting.

Discuss mental health practice or safety issues with mental health director to support development of mental health districtwide. Daily, 15%

Promote a positive and healthy working environment for mental health professionals in assigned feeder area and districtwide.

Consult, train and oversee mental health services in assigned feeder area and districtwide through regular formal and informal contact with assigned building-based mental health staff.

  • Assist school buildings in feeder area with universal, targeted, and intensive social-emotional learning supports that are embedded with cultural humility, focus on equity, and are trauma informed. Daily, 10%
  • Assist building mental health providers in locating community mental health resources and supports. Work with school-based mental health teams to ensure continuity of care between school and psychiatric hospitalizations. Daily, 10%
  • Provide support and training for mental health service delivery and psychological or social-emotional needs in special education evaluation. Daily, 10%
  • Collaborate with special education coordinators, Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) to assist school teams in conducting various levels of functional behavior assessments with emphasis on understanding emotional aspects of behavior and develop evidenced based behavioral intervention plans from the functional behavioral assessment. Daily, 10%
  • Work with Director of Community Partnership for Crisis intervention to respond to crisis in feeder area situations. Collaborate with fellow mental health partners and area security coordinator to address crisis situations and safety concerns. Weekly, 5%
  • Provide direct mental health services or assessments in feeder as needed. Weekly, 5%
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. Daily, 5%

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Master’s degree in school psychology, mental health counseling, social work, or related field.
  • Five (5) years of experience in clinical mental health or related.
  • Experience with school-based mental health services.
  • Willingness to contribute to cultural diversity for educational enrichment.
  • Advance knowledge of typical office equipment such as telephones, copiers, fax machines, email, etc.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with and engage in active participation with teachers, teaching assistants and other mental health and special education personnel to provide intervention and consultation regarding the needs of students.
  • Ability to adhere to the professional ethical standards and guidelines developed by the National Association of School Psychology and the American Psychological Association.
  • Ability to promote and follow the Board of Education policies, District policies, and building and department procedures, protocols, and guidelines.
  • Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS :

All certifications, licenses, and registrations must be valid and unexpired.

  • Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Special Services Provider (SSP) license
  • Colorado driver’s license

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (CDORA) Psychologist (PSY), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) license
  • Racially conscious and culturally competent with the skill, will, capacity, and knowledge to commit to a culture of continuous improvement.
