PATIENT CARE COORDINATOR / FRONT DESK
Reports to : Practice Manager

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Responsible for new patient’s smooth transition into the practice, existing patients ongoing dental care, communicating with patients during treatment, maintaining a full schedule and communication with specialty offices.
SPECIFIC DUTIES : Patient Management
Patient Management
- Greet new patients.
- Review and update health histories.
- Set up consultation room for consult appointments.
- Maintain a professional reception area / office (organize patient education materials and magazines, straighten up the facility, pick-up toys, report larger maintenance issues to practice manager)
- Send copy of patient record for consultation with specialist.
- Securely store and handle patient records in compliance with legal requirements, including HIPAA privacy and security regulations.
- Present treatment plans to patients.
- Arrange payment plans with patients.
- Confirm upcoming appointments.
- Schedule patients for efficient use of doctor and staff time.
- Check patient back-up list to try to fill in cancellation and no-show appointment times.
- Keep patient insurance information up-to-date.
- Check on insurance verification.
- Collect payment from patients at time of treatment.
- Call patients after a difficult treatment visit or OR visit.
Office Participation :
- Be an active participant in team meetings.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by dentist / practice manager.
PERSONNEL REQUIREMENTS :
Education / experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years work experience in dentistry preferred.
- Computer skills with dental software.
Interpersonal :
- Good interpersonal skills to maintain effective rapport with patients, dentists, other staff members and community.
- Effective verbal skills to communicate with patients and staff.
