The HR Specialist - Leaves Administrator and Benefits Manager i s responsible for leave administration, including OFLA, FMLA and PLO, Worker's Compensation, employee accommodations and benefits manager.
Represents HR on Safety Committee.
Location : This position is based out of LifeWorks NW's Sylvan site.
Pay / Benefits : $60, starting annual salary, plus .
Essential Responsibilities :
Prepare, track, and manage employee protected leaves and leave records. Process intake of leave requests, send required notices, forms, and letters, determine employee eligibility.
Process leaves in HRIS system.
- Coordinate with managers to evaluate the need for potential accommodations.
- Manages Worker's Compensation applications and manages OSHA logs and individual claims.
- Works with VP of Human Resources in response to issues regarding the American with Disabilities Act.
- Manages all benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance and (b) plan.
- Works closely with benefit vendors and broker.
- Responds to employee safety concerns and serves on Safety Committee.
- Facilitates 1st Aid Training.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory and law changes, and new technologies within the field of HR.
- Responsible for preparing reports using Excel and the HRIS system as needed to perform duties effectively.
- Checks e-mail / voice mail throughout the day responding to contacts appropriately.
- Meets standards for productivity and accuracy aligned with Key Results and as defined in Performance Evaluation. Completes tasks accurately within defined timeframes.
- Consistently helps cover for co-workers when needed and willingly accepts and follows through with other tasks as needed.
- Meets standards for attendance following the department's call-in policy for any unscheduled absences.
- Participate in regular individual and team meetings with supervisor. Attends informational and clinical meetings which may include all staff and team meetings, consultation with other staff and required trainings.
- Performs all tasks and responsibilities with an awareness of cultural inequities and being culturally responsive.
- Continually increase individual level of cultural sensitivity, awareness and responsiveness.
- Participates in the rotation for managing the HR e-mail, voice mail and fax line.
- Assists with special projects as needed and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
- Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills and / or abilities. To perform this job successfully, the employee will possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each task proficiently.)
- Requires BA or three plus years human resources experience in a generalist capacity.
- Minimum 3 years working in human resources. Prior experience working with FMLA / OFLA / PLO, worker's compensation and benefits required.
- Demonstrates effective communication skills and maintains a cooperative working relationship with others in a culturally diverse environment.
- Good computer skills including a functional knowledge of Outlook, Word and Excel. Ability to learn proprietary software.
Must be able to keyboard 50 wpm.
