What will you be doing?
This role is an integral member of the Global Operations AWM Leadership Team and, in partnership with that team and other key partners, this position crafts ground-breaking programs and execution plans aligned to Smith+Nephew's Strategic Imperatives.
As part of overall Program Management, this position ensures a comprehensive People Plan and Organizational Change approach, Fit for Purpose Strategy, and Delivery Excellence with Operational and Financial Control throughout the program life cycle.
This position leads and motivates cross-functional and cross-cultural teams, possesses a high level of customer leadership skills with the ability to think strategically while leading the tactical details.
The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and presentation skills as well as demonstrated ability to interface effectively with employees, leaders, and consultants of all levels throughout the organization.
This position requires strong Manufacturing functional and process knowledge as well as a proven record to optimally influence without authority.
Program Design (20%)
Develop the overall program to include budget, timeline, people plan, and execution plan which delivers the Global Operations AWM Business Unit strategy.
Ensure the vital forums to confirm strategic alignment with commercial and other functions acting as the conduit for Global Operations AWM Business Unit in broader Global Operations strategic discussions.
Support development of financial and business modeling of assigned programs.
Ensure the physical warehousing network is scalable and flexible to handle business growth, new product introduction, acquisition, and other commercial activities.
Planning / Delivery (40%)
Refine and improve processes by driving strategic projects.
Develop compelling value propositions and assist with the development of cost models.
Ensure each program has clear and attainable objectives with detailed project plans with well-defined tasks.
Have knowledge of active programs ensuring each is tracking to plan and where required implementing remediation steps.
Ensure quality work within large projects / programs in agreed timescale and budget. Consistently and optimally handle stakeholder expectations ensuring alignment across the organization.
Develop and implement consistent methodologies.
Recognized as a subject matter authority both internally and externally for deep strategic understanding of business processes and relevant technology solutions.
Apply detailed logic and conceptual skills to optimally tackle highly sophisticated problems.
Think quickly and adeptly about how to address problems as they come up, learning from the issues so that the same problems do not arise again.
Financial Management (10%)
Assume overall responsibility for functional budget and impact on corporate profitability and overall financial results giving to the company's overall success.
Forecast annual spend requirements crafting an annual budget scheduling expenditures and savings.
Prepare an overall budget and the individual capital expenditure requests required to support the approval of program(s).
Analyze variances against budget initiating corrective actions as required.
Work with the finance business partner to communicate variances and associated impact to the organizational financial performance.
People Management (5%)
Attract, retain, develop, and motivate project teams.
Drive a result-oriented and positive teamwork culture within the team.
Help others succeed and accept responsibility for success or failure.
Actively coach assigned resources and run deployment in the wider team. Support and champion project resource performance and career development.
Change Management (20%)
Deliver road shows, workshops, and other forums ensuring alignment on purpose and scope of the program and that roles and objectives are well understood.
Create regular forum(s) for internal and external people to communicate and document integration touch points, issues of scope overlap, and work efforts towards resolution.
Be active in partner management activities across program and projects ensuring communication of the program is happening at all levels of the organization.
Respect and efficiently handle diverse cultures and views.
Ensure communication of progress, issues, and risks across the organization.
Stand for credibility and trust and be perceived as a trusted advisor for the long-term benefits of the business.
Act as a role model and encourage others to demonstrate integrity and visibility.
Quality Management (5%)
Handle overall risks and mitigations of the program.
Lead adherence to all relevant compliance regulations impacted by subject area including but not limited to quality, regulatory, legal, and financial (eg. QMS, FDA, SOX).
Run overall project governance to ensure key collaborators understand the implications of any given project including change impact, risks, cost, resource requirements, technical needs, tax implications, etc.

Travel : 25%
Education : Bachelor's degree in Business, Science, Engineering, IT, Manufacturing, or a Finance-related curriculum; MBA preferred.
What will you need to be successful?
At least 8 years of work experience with project / program management within a mid to large size corporate environment.
Experience in the Medical Device Industry is required.
International or cross-cultural work experience preferred.
Preferred areas of expertise : Manufacturing, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, PMP, Lean.
Ability to effectively interface and influence partners at multiple organizational levels.
Adept learner with strong analytic skills.
Demonstrated success in working with cross-functional, cross-cultural teams. Strong process orientation, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
High degree of self-motivation and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated experience in performing under tight timelines.
Strong project management skills, particularly with respect to organization, prioritization, and time management.
