Heavy Forklift Operator
This position supports the claims operation by providing information and assistance to the Company’s Salvage Operation. The primary function of this position is to inspect and relocate salvaged vehicles, with the use of a 5-ton forklift, to appropriate staging areas.
Duties including inspecting and checking in all incoming vehicles to help determine title certificate status, complete inventory of salvage yards, preparing vehicles for salvage sale, ensuring security of salvage yard, and safe and timely moving of vehicles to ensure the prompt sale of salvaged property to assist in the maximizing of revenue.
This position is primarily an outdoor field position that involves being outside for a majority of the day and working in inclement weather conditions.
The majority of the duties are performed while operating a forklift in a salvage yard and lifting and moving unbalanced loads such as salvaged automobiles.
Some of the duties are performed while standing and walking on concrete, asphalt, and gravel surfaces throughout the day.
Physical requirements are the ability to operate a forklift, standing, sitting, bending and lifting. Additional physical requirements are the ability to carry a 20-pound batter booster from vehicle to vehicle and attaching it to battery terminals to obtain mileage readings.
Getting in and out of vehicles throughout the day. Opening doors and hoods to vehicles. Using window masking film and a utility knife to cover exposed parts of salvage vehicles.
Removing disassembled parts from the interior of vehicles to photograph and place back into salvage vehicles for storage.
Provide legendary customer service to our insured members. Customer service oriented. Certificate to operate a 5-ton forklift preferred although in-house training and certification is available .
The starting pay range for this position is :
$18.20 - $24.27
