Assistant Consultant, Ports and Marine Engineering

Overview

Assistant Consultant, Ports and Marine Engineering role at WSP in the U.S. This position can be based out of New Orleans-LA, Tampa-FL, Houston-TX, or Raleigh-NC.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support to other technical staff, engineers, and project managers for the development, design, construction, and inspection of structures and facilities for port, marine, and intermodal rail terminal projects in the public and private sector; facilities may include piers, wharves, port and upland marine terminals, seawalls, dry docks, marinas and other nearshore / offshore facilities.
• Deliver work products that meet or exceed acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.
• With minimal supervision, collect, compile, and analyze data from the physical work site, survey data, technical reports and drawings, and other data matrices for project development, design, and construction.
• Assist with the development of project design requirements, incorporating marine-practice engineering standards and specifications.
• Identify project site, design and construction related risks and provide input on mitigation activities.
• Write technical reports and documentation of findings using sketches, calculations, excel spreadsheets, technical drawings, and other engineering software.
• Prepare presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to internal and external team members as well as clients.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and larger multidisciplinary teams on Federal, State, regional, and locally funded improvement and development projects.
• Participate in site visits and inspections to gain practical insights into maritime construction processes.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct; adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
• Complete all assigned trainings.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
