POSITION SUMMARY :
The PCB Designer will design moderate to complex printed circuit board layouts with analog, digital, power circuits and interconnect applications for use in avionic control panels.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Work closely with electrical design engineers and technical leads to create PCB schematic capture and layouts (component placement and routing) based upon physical and electrical design specifications
- Create and / or modify PCB board outline, stack-up, and panelization characteristics in accordance with Electrical, Mechanical and Manufacturing design constraints
- Provide feedback to design engineers as needed to ensure functionality and manufacturability of PCB designs
- Suggest options when faced with challenging PCB design situations including resolutions to non-standard problems
- Participate in design reviews, interface with electrical, mechanical, manufacturing and process engineers to design proto-type and production quality printed circuit boards in accordance with IPC standards and procedures
- Create fabrication and assembly drawings, BOM, incorporate changes to existing design documentation
- Generate all outputs files required for the manufacture of the board and assembly
- Act as the prime technical contact for the exchange of design information with PCB fabricators
- Interfaces with PCB fabricators on DFM, quality related issues and pricing
- Create schematic symbols and layout footprints for new electrical and electromechanical components for inclusion into the database library for use in schematic and layout activities
- Maintain design file revision control throughout the design release process
JOB SKILLS REQUIRED :
- Must have knowledge of signal integrity design constraints encompassing differential pairs, impedance control, EMC / EMI, and ESD
- Must have the ability to communicate and cooperate with multiple engineering groups, Electrical, Mechanical and Manufacturing
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE :
- BS in Electrical Engineering
- Must have at least 3 years hands on printed circuit board design experience
- Solid proficiency with Altium Designer Software, Cadence or similar PCB Design Tool required
