The Distribution Development Trainee program is a 6 to 12-month rotational program designed for new graduates or people seeking training opportunities to kick-start their careers by allowing the exploration of many roles and segments that DSG has to offer, choose a path of interest, and train for a career at DSG! Employees in this program will experience immersive on-the-job training and introduction to various careers within DSG, such as Sales, Warehouse, Project Management, Leadership, Operations and more.

During this program, we will identify your strengths and work towards career goals while experiencing hands-on instruction needed to learn all aspects of our business.

In this program, you will get the opportunity to travel to different branches and learn from other employee owners. This experience will give you the ability to qualify for many positions within DSG while gaining thorough distribution experience that will prepare you for your future career!

A Typical Day in the Life of a Distribution Development Trainee :

  • Shadow and learn from team members in various departments and roles such as Sales, Warehouse, Quotations, and Operations
  • Learn how to create professional development skills through corporate-led workshops
  • Work on quarterly projects with your mentor and learn various aspects of our industry such as excess inventory, sales analysis and operational logistics
  • Communicate effectively with distributors, customers, and fellow trainees to build strong relationships, address questions, provide support, and ensure collaboration across all stakeholders
  • Acquire in-depth knowledge through product and segment training, ensuring a complete understanding of operational processes, product features, and best practices

A Successful Distribution Development Trainee Typically Has :

  • Strong commitment to growing and developing their skills and product knowledge as an Employee Owner of DSG
  • An innate ability to be adaptable, mobile and dependable
  • A technical aptitude and willingness to learn about the distribution industry
  • Strong time management and organization skills to plan and prioritize work effectively
  • Excellent relationship building skills
  • The ability and means to travel to different locations within our geographic footprint
  • Outstanding interpersonal, customer service and communication skills across a variety of settings (in-person, phone, and email)
  • Strong attention to detail, paired with the ability to multi-task
