Hiring for a manufacturing client located in Totowa, NJ searching for a high level Maintenance Engineer / Specialist with strong hands on experience to assist insuring the continuous operation and optimal performance of all equipment, systems, and machinery within the manufacturing facility.
The Maintenance Engineer will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and implement repairs to minimize downtime.
This role is critical in maintaining high levels of operational efficiency, safety, and productivity.
Key Responsibilities :
- Perform routine maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems to ensure optimal performance and reduce breakdowns.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions in equipment and machinery; develop solutions and perform repairs or replacements as necessary.
- Create and implement preventative maintenance schedules to ensure all equipment is regularly serviced and in compliance with safety standards.
- Collaborate with production teams to minimize disruption during maintenance activities and improve overall operational efficiency.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and documentation of repairs, inspections, and upgrades.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement upgrades to enhance equipment performance and reliability.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and promote safe working practices across the site.
- Manage and maintain an inventory of spare parts and tools necessary for maintenance operations.
- Assist with the installation and setup of new equipment, ensuring proper calibration and performance.
- Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Work with external vendors or contractors for complex repairs or specialized maintenance tasks when required.
Key Skills and Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (or a related field) preferred.
- 5+ years experience
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer or similar role in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Proficiency in using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) for tracking maintenance tasks and managing inventory.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to following safety procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
- Familiarity with PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) and automation systems is a plus.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Willingness to work in shifts or respond to emergency maintenance calls when needed.
