Job Summary The purpose of the Veteran Resource Center Office Assistant is to foster an environment for military connected students that come to the center to study, relax, or to connect with other veterans.
The VRC is the hub for many campus activities to interact with military. connected students. Military connected students refer to students who are currently in any branch of the military, active or reserves, students separated or retired from any branch of the military, active Essential Duties and Responsibilities Atmosphere -Ensure are military connected students feel appreciated for the sacrifice they or their family has made for this country.
- Deliberately gain feedback on what programs or items we need to make our center and university better for military connected students.
- Lead games and activities to provide a pleasant environment for military connected students) Accountability -Maintain a list of military connected students that visit the VRC.
- Ensure needed supplies are on hand to support the VRC.-Ensure needed pamphlets are available for military connected students.
Inform -Inform visitors of current and future events, verbally, through email, and social media.-Inform Director of Military Initiatives any problems leader visits, and all student visits.
Correspond -Answer YRC telephone and take appropriate messages.-Contact designated parties by phone for designated tasks.
Other Duties and Responsibilities Maintain -Ensure orderliness and upkeep of the VRC.-Maintain the security of VRC items.
- Ensure director of military initiatives is made of ware of logistic, repair, or emerging needs affecting the military connected students.
- Other duties as assigned. Knowledge and Skills Candidates for this position must be a military connected student as described above.
Customer service, organization skills, the ability to use the Microsoft office suite, and leadership is important for this position.
Student employees will report to the Director of Military Initiatives. Minimum Requirements Additional Desirable Qualifications Physical Requirements Working Conditions Student employees will report to the Director of Military Initiatives.
