Position Overview :

Snap Finance is seeking an experienced Director of Compliance - Merchant Oversight to lead our merchant underwriting processes and drive forward our compliance initiatives.

This role is critical in ensuring that our merchant operations meet the highest standards of regulatory compliance and operational excellence.

As the Director of Compliance - Merchant Oversight, you will have full responsibility for overseeing the merchant underwriting team and other compliance oversight functions.

This role is instrumental in refining department structures, enhancing governance frameworks, and ensuring that all merchant-related activities are aligned with regulatory requirements and organizational goals.

Responsibilities :

• Merchant Underwriting : Direct and manage activities related to merchant underwriting, ensuring strict compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards while supporting the company’s growth objectives.
• Risk Management : Develop and implement robust risk assessment protocols for merchant onboarding and ongoing monitoring to mitigate potential financial and reputational risks.
• Policy Development : Establish and continually refine compliance policies and procedures to ensure they meet the latest regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
• Team Leadership : Oversee and potentially expand the merchant oversight team, driving high performance, continuous improvement, and alignment with strategic objectives.
• Stakeholder Engagement : Serve as a primary liaison between the Compliance department, senior management, and external regulators, ensuring that all merchant-related compliance issues are effectively managed and communicated.
• Refine and optimize Merchant onboarding with a balanced approach to compliance and intake efficiencies, optimizations and automation.

Requirements :

Bachelor’s degree in business, Law, or a related field with at least 5 years of in-depth experience in compliance or risk management, particularly in the financial services industry.

Advanced certifications in compliance or related fields are highly desirable.

• Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, with a strategic vision for enhancing compliance operations in a rapidly evolving regulatory environment.
• Demonstrated success in overseeing complex compliance operations, with a strong track record of improving processes and systems through strategic efforts and ownership.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with various stakeholders and leading through influence.
• Strong analytical abilities to manage detailed compliance reviews, risk assessments, and to drive data-informed decision-making.
