Material Scientist
Job Description
Hiring a Material Scientist for a biotech company specialized in pioneering biological and chemical detention technologies in Rancho Cordova, CA.
As a Material Scientist, you will assist in the discovery process of how to fabricate substrates. You will create and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and maintain a clean lab space.
The ideal candidate will play a critical role in designing, developing, and optimizing various components of our product in preparation to take it to market.
- This role involves conducting complex experiments, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards
- Play a key role in supporting research and development projects and contributing to the overall success of our product launch
- Perform a variety of chemical analyses, experiments, and tests which includes preparing samples, operating laboratory equipment, and recording data accurately
- Ensure that designs are optimized for manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and performance
- Testing of new designs to validate performance, functionality, and reliability
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices
- Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance product quality and manufacturing efficiency
- Ensure all laboratory equipment is properly calibrated, maintained, and functioning
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues with instruments or equipment
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines
- Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment
- Accurately record, analyze, and interpret data
- Monitor and verify the quality of laboratory results through rigorous testing and validation procedures
Qualifications
- We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled in both material science and chemistry
- Ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of hands-on laboratory experience
- Bachelor’s degree required in Materials Science, Chemistry or related discipline; Master's or PhD preferred
- Proficient in using laboratory equipment such as spectrophotometers, titrators, and other analytical instrumentsExpertise with Raman Spectroscopy
- Strong knowledge of chemical safety protocols and laboratory best practices
- Ability to analyze complex data and produce accurate, reliable results
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prepare clear and concise reports and effectively present data to colleagues and management
- Willingness to share knowledge and support the growth of fellow team members
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work efficiently in a fast-paced, start-up environment
