Essential Job Functions Duties and Responsibilities
The primary purpose of this position is to manage the financial functions of the facility which includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, resident payer eligibility, and financial reporting in accordance with current standards, guidelines and established policies.
Office Management Functions :
- Manage the monthly billing of Private Pay, Medicare, Medicaid and Managed Care for Skilled Nursing Facility.
- Responsible for collection of all A / R and adherence to company collection policies and procedures.
- Maintain daily facility census, reconciling discrepancies with other departments.
- Verify Medicare / Medicaid / Insurance eligibility and benefits. Obtain or verify prior authorizations.
- Responsible for cash management functions, including deposits, petty cash, facility bank account, resident trust and bank reconciliation.
- Oversee accounts payable and payroll functions.
- Respond to and resolve requests from residents and / or responsible parties.
- Remain up to date with Federal and State billing guidelines
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must possess the ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and accept constructive criticism. Must be able to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies / personnel, and the general public.
Must be able to work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and potentially hostile people within the facility.
Must be able to speak, write and understand English in a manner that is sufficient for effective communication with supervisors, employees, residents, and families.
Education and Experience
Prefer 2+ years of skilled nursing billing and collections, including Medicare, Medicaid and Insurance billing.
Minimum of two years accounting or bookkeeping related post- secondary education.
Proficiency in computer use including Excel, Word and billing forms including UB04s and HCFA 1500s.
Knowledge of basic generally accepted accounting principles.
