Job Title : Structural Engineer
Job Description
As a Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for receiving design inputs from engineering personnel and reviewing customer specifications and standards for incorporation into designs.
You will obtain written approval for any deviations from specifications and document these deviations. You will seek design input / validation from a Professional Engineer when appropriate and complete structural layout drawings for systems, closely coordinating with layout engineering personnel and project engineers.
Your responsibilities will also include ensuring accuracy and completeness of work, maintaining carrier clearance lines, adhering to customer and CAD standards, and assuring appropriate application of dimensions.
You will plan, schedule, and release components for fabrication under the supervision of the project engineer to meet installation schedules and manage inventory effectively.
Additionally, you will travel to job sites to inspect field conditions, existing steel, and assist with installation, which may require extended periods away from home.
You will demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and assist others as needed, with regular and predictable attendance. Extended hours, weekends, and holidays may be required, along with performing other duties as necessary.

Work Site
This is a fully on-site position in Kansas City, Missouri.
Work Environment
The role offers the flexibility to travel as much or as little as desired, with a minimum of 5% travel. The Kansas City office comprises 75 engineers, and the Detroit office houses 25 engineers.
The fabrication is unionized and done in-house. This specific team consists of 13 Structural Engineers and Designers. The position involves 40-hour work weeks, paid hourly with 1.
5x pay for hours over 40. The work culture is primarily in-office with some flexibility, but it is not hybrid or remote.
