Full-Time Peer Support Specialist Pacific Hope and Recovery Center (PHRC)
Hiring Range : $20.07 - $24.58 Per Hour

Kitsap Mental Health Services is hiring a Peer Support Specialistto support our Pacific Hope and Recovery Center (PHRC) team.
This position is ideal for someone who has personally experienced mental health and / or substance use disorder services and is eager to use their knowledge and insight to benefit others.
As a Peer Specialist, you will provide support, advocacy, and expertise about the recovery process, symptom management, and the persistence required by clients to lead a satisfying life.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Share lived experience when clinically appropriate to offer hope to clients in crisis.
- Advocate for client choice, self-determination, and decision-making in treatment planning, delivery, and evaluation.
- Assist clients in navigating external resources upon discharge.
- Coordinate and facilitate the timely implementation of complex discharge plans.
- Track client progress at 7 days, 30 days, and 90 days post-discharge through follow-up calls.
- Maintain effective communication with physicians, nursing staff, clients, families, and other relevant parties.
- Facilitate approved group activities and provide individual support to clients.
- Conduct ongoing observation and assessment of client mental status.
- Assist with meeting client basic needs, including meal preparation, safety checks, and transportation.
- Participate in shift pass downs to ensure continuous client care.
- Document findings, discharge plans, and actions taken according to PHRC guidelines.
- Complete all necessary paperwork related to client care, including admission and discharge forms, confidentiality agreements, and tracking sheets.
- Assist Substance Use Disorder Professionals, Trainees, and Recovery Case Managers with tasks such as arranging transport, housing, and follow-up appointments.
Minimum Qualifications :
EDUCATION : High School Diploma or GED
EXPERIENCE : Entry level (no prior related work experience)
This position requires driving clients in a personal vehicle on behalf of the agency; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in the state of Washington, and have reliable, insured transportation.
Valid WA State Food Worker Card (Can be obtained after hire)
LICENSURE : Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration. (Can be obtained after hire)
Completion of the Washington State Mental Health Division’s Peer Counselor Training and the subsequent certification as a Peer Counselor within six months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications :
EXPERIENCE : Relevant experience working with clients with severe and persistent mental illness.
