Hazen and Sawyer has an opportunity for a civil / stormwater engineer to engage with stormwater / green infrastructure projects in New York City and throughout the northeast, from our corporate headquarters in New York City, with the flexibility to work out of our Edison, NJ, White Plains, NY or Hicksville, NY offices.
The candidate should have 8-12 years of experience in the design and regulatory permitting of site plans, drainage studies, stormwater collection systems, stormwater controls, including green infrastructure, and erosion control for construction.
Specific experience in New York City’s green infrastructure and MS4 programs are advantageous. Candidate must be self-motivated, highly organized and possess excellent writing and communication skills.
- Initial responsibility will be to serve as lead project engineer for the design of a complex constructed wetlands facility, mentoring junior and technical staff;
- overseeing civil site design; coordinating structural, geotechnical, and other disciplines; engaging with surveyors, drilling, and other subcontractors;
and managing preparation of plans, specifications, and documentation for public bidding. Experience in estimating workloads and developing schedules preferred.
Technical proficiency in the use of AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D 2019 or later for the design of site layout, grading and drainage is required.
Familiarity with site survey practices, shop drawing review, and field construction QA / QC is preferred.
Qualifications / Skills required :
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D 2019 or later is required.
- Experience or familiarity with ArcGIS and hydrologic / hydraulic modeling software is desired.
- Driver’s license and ability to drive to New York City and within the tri-state area.
- Professional Engineering license.
