About Our School Opened in 2022, Vertex Partnership Academies is a virtues-based, International Baccalaureate (IB) public charter high school located in the Soundview section of the Bronx.

Vertex Partnership Academies requires the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme for freshmen and sophomores and is proud to be an International Baccalaureate World School authorized to offer each of the Diploma and Career-related Programmes in the junior and senior years.

With this prestigious authorization, Vertex Partnership Academies is one of a handful of high schools worldwide that is an IB For All School offering three IB programs, meaning that 100% of Vertex students are required to pursue the IB Middle Years program in ninth and tenth grade, and then choose between the IB Diploma or IB Career-related Programmes pathway for their 11th and 12th-grade years.

Responsibilities Contribute positively to the collaborative culture of the academic team and Vertex staff Construct learning experiences that challenge students, support the diversity of learners in each classroom and demonstrate a strong commitment to concept driven, inquiry-based teaching and learning Attend to high impact instructional practices (cognitive lift, appropriate demand of task, student centered discussions, clear formative assessment, and feedback) Build caring relationships and rapport with students and staff Participate in community-based projects and school field trips Ensure all assessments support ongoing learning and provide timely, relevant, and appropriate feedback to students Demonstrate effective classroom management Proactively communicate with families about student learning Supervise students’ individual Personal Projects and service requirements Lead an advisory group of students in a specified grade level Enthusiastically participate and contribute thoughtfully in Professional Development Qualifications Required A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Education or relevant subject A passion for working with adolescent learners, flexible attitude, and a sense of humor A passion for education and designing and implementing language instruction for learners with are acquiring English as an additional language Flexibility of approach and a collaborative style A commitment to viewpoint diversity, open inquiry, and experiential-based pedagogy A willingness to adapt and develop pedagogy to meet the needs of our learners Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and collaborative skills Nice to Have : Master’s degree Teaching Certificate Experience with IB School This role is a full-time, in-person opportunity.

Physical Requirements This role may require lifting and carrying items weighing up to 20 pounds unassisted, including assisting coworkers when needed.

Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting, sitting, and looking at a computer screen for long periods at a time.

Compensation The salary range for this position is $67,000-$108,000, offer will be commensurate with the candidate’s years of experience and credentials.
