We have an Unconventional Upstream Oil & Gas company based in Midland, TX looking for a Houston-based Power Projects Electrical Engineer to plan, design, and build electrical infrastructure to support business growth.
In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that electrical systems meet operational demands and timelines.

Travel : 50% travel to Midland, TX and Dallas, TX
Workplace : 100% In-office
Work Schedule : Monday-Friday / 50 hours a week
Assignment Type : Standard US / W2 Contract
Desired Start Date : ASAP
Duration : 1-year with potential for extension
Rate : Hourly with 1.5x OT

Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand field development plans and electrical load demands.
- Monitor drilling, completions, and production schedules to ensure timely power delivery for startups.
- Work with Power Systems Electrical Engineers to assess existing infrastructure constraints.
- Verify as-built data, update mapping, and input devices into GIS, Power Models, and SCADA systems.
- Coordinate routing with surface land teams, landmen, utilities, and other operators.
- Collaborate with external electrical service providers to ensure power availability and submit load requests.
- Submit material and labor requests for approved power system upgrades.
- Manage cost, schedule, and budget for power system projects.
- Ensure compliance with internal and external design standards.
- Manage third-party engineering contractors.
- Obtain necessary permits for projects, such as road crossings and transmission crossings.
- Support field teams during the execution of projects.
- Assist Operations & Maintenance with system modifications and upgrades, focusing on reliability improvements.
Essential skills and knowledge
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from an ABET-accredited program.
- 5+ years of experience as a project engineer in the oil & gas, utility, mining, or manufacturing industries.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience in managing costs, schedules, and budgets for capital projects.
- Experience managing third-party engineering contractors.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of electrical power transmission and distribution systems.
- Experience with electrical modeling software such as Milsoft WindMil, PSCAD, ETAP, or SKM Power Tools.
- Field-based construction or operations experience.
- Experience in Permian-based oil & gas operations.
