SWBC is seeking a talented individual to manage their own work schedule with supervisory responsibilities of managing the corporate tax function.
This individual provides high-level support to the VP Taxation on research, tax planning, and special projects. This individual develops working relationships both within and outside of the department and assists in the creation of policy and procedures for the growth of the Tax Department.
This role assists in interviewing, hiring, developing, and evaluating employees.
- Provides high-level support to the VP Taxation on research, tax planning, and special projects.
- Manages the corporate tax function to maintain tax compliance for federal, state, and local taxes, including reviewing federal and state income tax returns for statutory compliance with consolidated, combined, and separate reporting principles for corporate, exempt, and pass through entities.
- Analyzes, prepares, and / or reviews quarterly and annual federal and state provision for consolidated group of diversified financial and insurance entities.
- Develops staff regarding federal and state tax laws and theories, as well as research skills.
- Reviews calculations of Texas Gross Margin tax for inclusion in annual tax provision and prepares schedules for outside auditors.
- Manages federal and state audits, as needed. Performs research for defense of tax positions.
- Assists in interviewing, hiring, developing, and evaluating employees.
- Performs other duties as required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited college or four-year university required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in federal, state, and local tax compliance and accounting required.
- Proficient Microsoft Office skills, including Word and Excel.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong technical and supervisory skills.
- Able and willingness to lead from in front and get work done through others.
- Able to use basic office equipment, including copy machine, personal computer, and fax.
- Able to type 40 WPM.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
- Able to sit for long periods of time performing sedentary activities.
- Able to stand, stoop, and kneel to file for long periods of time.
- Able to push, pull, and lift up to 20 lbs. of files, supplies, documents, or other related items.
