CONTRACT YEAR : Twelve Months
POSITION GOAL : The Deputy Superintendent, Teaching & Learning will provide leadership and direction in the ongoing planning, implementation, development, review, and evaluation of the School District's Pre-K through adult educational and support programs, including academics, demographics, school performance and accountability and student support and initiatives.
The Deputy Superintendent, Teaching & Learning will also provide executive level support to the Superintendent and district administration.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE :
- An earned master’s degree from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of ten (10) years of progressively more responsible work experience in the field related to the title of the position, including a minimum of six (6) years in a senior leadership / management role.
- Must hold or be eligible for a valid Florida certification in administration and supervision or educational leadership.
- Experience in the design, integration, implementation, and management of a comprehensive, Pre-K through Adult instructional and support program.
- Proven experience in successfully improving lower-performing schools through direct oversight (e.g., mentoring, principal oversight).
- Experience working in a diverse school district.
- Proven ability to provide exceptional leadership during critical incidents and emergency situations.
- Proven experience leading strategic educational initiatives that result in measurable improved student achievement.
- Ability to prepare comprehensive reports with clear and concise representation of concepts and ideas.
- Excellent verbal, written and communication skills.
- Computer skills as required for the position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE :
- Doctorate degree from an accredited institution.
- Knowledge of school finance, budget development and implementation and support services delivery systems.
- Deputy Superintendent experience.
- Experience with charter schools oversight.
- English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) experience.
- Bilingual skills
