The Registered nurse provides care and education for the patient based on their illness, symptoms, and courses of treatment.
This position manages individualized, goal-directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
This individual also directs and guides the patient care activities of ancillary personnel and other patient care personnel, while maintaining standards of professional practice.
This position maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times and is self-motivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease and new procedures as the evolve.
- Assesses and diagnoses patient and family needs to provide quality care to assigned patients.
- Develops, discusses, and communicates a realistic plan of care for each patient, in collaboration with each patient / significant other in order to address all identified needs.
- Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to implement medical plan of care, nursing interventions, and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient.
- Maintains up to date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to ensure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team, to ensure quality care.
- Maintains current knowledge / certification / licensure. Pursues professional growth and development.
- Must be available for on call assignments, as needed.
Minimum Education
- Technical Diploma / Certificate Nursing Required or
- Associates Degree Nursing Required
- Bachelor's Degree Preferred
Minimum Work Experience
1-3 years experience in Cardiovascular or Cardiopulmonary Required
Licenses and Certifications
- Registered Nurse Licensed State of Florida or eligible compact state Upon Hire Required and
- BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required
- ACLS Provider (ACLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Demonstrated proficiency in acute care nursing, knowledge, and skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills. (Medium proficiency)
- In depth knowledge of the policies and procedures of the hospital.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software. (Medium proficiency)
- Knowledge of patient care charts and patient histories.
- Basic Computer Skills
- Critical thinking skills with the ability to adapt to department workload.
- Demonstrated clinical competence in relevant area of nursing practice
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Demonstrated good verbal and written communications, and organizational skills. (Medium proficiency)
