The Department of Health Policy at Stanford University seeks an Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor in the University Tenure Line or University Medical Line.

We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in health policy / health services research with a special emphasis on health equity.

  • The predominant criterion for appointment in the University Tenure Line is a major commitment to research and teaching.
  • The major criteria for appointment for faculty in the University Medical Line shall be excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill.

Faculty rank and line will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

The Department of Health Policy (DHP) is a multidisciplinary group with broad research and education programs in health policy, both domestic and global.

DHP is closely affiliated with Stanford’s Center for Health Policy (CHP) in the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies and works with multiple departments and Schools throughout the university.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree or an M.D. with substantial research background and / or training in research. Training and expertise should be in health policy / health services research with an emphasis on health equity.

Specific areas of emphasis may include, but are not limited to, evaluating the equity effects of changes in Medicaid and Medicare policy on vulnerable populations, estimating the contribution of systemic and structural factors on disparities in access to evidence-based health care services, and informing the design of health system interventions to improve equitable health outcomes.

Methodological and focal areas of interest may include, but are not limited to, pharmaceutical policy, algorithmic bias and environmental justice.

The successful candidate is expected to develop an independent research program and to participate in the School of Medicine’s training and teaching programs in health policy.

The expected base pay range for this position is :

  • Associate Professor : $303,000 - $323,000
  • Professor : $372,000 - $392,000

This pay range reflects base pay, which is based on faculty rank and years in rank. It does not include all components of the School of Medicine’s faculty compensation program or pay from participation in departmental incentive compensation programs.
