TheSenior Health Economics and Outcomes Researcherwill be a critical leader on the Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR) team.
The Senior Researcher is responsible for providing strategic, analytical and methodological expertise to support 1) the development and execution of global health economic and outcomes evidence for CRM products, therapies, services, and disease focus areas and 2) the development and implementation of strategic reimbursement and economic value initiatives for CRM products, therapies, and services.
This position may be called upon to support multiple therapies, with a specific focus area on leading the execution of studies using administrative claims data, electronic health record data, and device registration and transmission data.
A Day In The Life
- Design and conduct observational and economic research studies that provide value, perspective and evidence for clinical and / or pre-clinical product portfolio decisions, marketing, regulatory agency submissions, and product reimbursement strategies.
- Compare and evaluate the value of products and therapies with the clinical, economic, and quality of life outcomes data from clinical trials and / or epidemiology studies, registries, observational studies, modeling, surveys, and meta-analysis.
- Develop and execute economic evidence generation activities including cost-effectiveness modeling, budget impact modeling, and outcomes research using real-world data.
- Prepare observational and economic research study results for dissemination via abstract, presentation, and / or peer-reviewed publication.
- Develops country specific evidence to meet requirements for optimal reimbursement coverage and usage.
- Works closely with Reimbursement and Market Access colleagues to determine the global economic evidence needs and potential impact of evidence on therapy coverage, payment, and adoption.
- Works with clinical research to add relevant health outcomes and economic endpoints to clinical trials and biostatisticians to analyze and report study results.
- Facilitate meetings with health care professionals, economic consultants and senior internal personnel as required to support strategic development or tactical implementation.
Must Have; Minimum Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree
- 4 years of relevant experience healthcare industry working with health care data (medical device, pharmaceutical, biotech, insurance, hospital, health system or health department)
- Or minimum 2 years of experience in healthcare industry working with health care data (medical device, pharmaceutical, biotech, insurance, hospital, health system or health department) with an advanced degree
Nice To Have
- Advanced degree in health policy, health services research, health economics, epidemiology, or related field of study
- Proven ability to work effectively in a highly matrixed organization
- Proven relationship-building and maintaining skills with internal and external stakeholders including physician customers, hospital administrators or payers
- Proven ability to strategically manage a portfolio of projects or initiatives with high business acumen
- Familiarity with cardiac anatomy and physiology
- Training and experience in health economics, health policy, epidemiology or health services research
- Experience working with real-world data assets, including administrative claims, electronic health record data, or patient discharge data as a health service researcher, epidemiologist, data programmer or economist
- Proficiency programming using statistical software (e.g. SAS, STATA, R, etc.)
- Demonstrated competency in database file manipulation, data analysis and graphical presentation
- Familiarity with or experience in decision analysis, cost-effectiveness modeling, and budget impact modeling
- Strong quantitative and research design skills, preferably with training in econometrics, statistics, or epidemiology
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially the ability to communicate complex analytical techniques in a way that is understandable by non-quantitative audiences
- Experience in the analysis, synthesis, and presentation of complex data from multiple sources
- Project management experience; demonstrated consultative mindset
