Job Summary

Central Washington University is recruiting an Assistant Professor of Accounting to join our College of Business, Accounting team in Ellensburg, Washington.

We're offering a salary, depending on experience, from $125,000 - $135,000 annually plus the awesome CWU benefits.

The Role :

Central Washington University (CWU), Department of Accounting invites applicants for a full-time, nine-month, tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Accounting beginning in September 2025.

Candidates with teaching interests in all areas of accounting will be considered. The College of Business provides excellent resources for research.

CWU has access to WRDS and currently has the following subscriptions : CRSP, Compustat Merged database, Capital IQ, BoardEx, FISD, SEC filings, and ESG data.

In addition, CWU has excellent library resources.

The Department of Accounting has 5 full-time faculty members and offers an attractive teaching load with small classes and a close-knit teaching environment.

The Department hosts one of the largest undergraduate accounting program in the State of Washington using in-person classroom, hybrid, hyflex, distance education, and online formats.

CWU offers the undergraduate accounting major and graduate specializations in Management Accounting and Taxation. CWU's College of Business is accredited by AACSB-International.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ph.D. in accounting or related field. Candidates who are ABD and nearing completion of the dissertation may also be considered.
• Candidates teaching experience in multiple modalities as mentioned above.
• Established or potential record for research in peer-reviewed journals.
• Demonstrable commitment to CWU's mission of inclusion and diversity.
• Relevant industry and practical experiences. These may include industry-driven research and scholarship agenda(s).

Preferred Qualifications (p lease address in your cover letter : )

• Professional certification (CPA, CMA, etc.)
• Experience or interest in developing and updating curriculum.
• Interest and experience in providing learners with experiential learning opportunities.
• Experience or interest in mentoring students from a variety of backgrounds.
• A record of promoting inclusivity in classrooms and academic work environments.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

Salary : $125,000 - $135,000, based on a full-time nine-month appointment.

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Appointment : Full-Time, Tenure-Track, 9-month Appointment. Additional Summer teaching may be available. Central Washington University is on the quarter system with appointments from mid-September through mid-June.
