This is a remote role with a home-office based in Ohio.

The salary range for this role is : $135,399.68 - $243,590.88

Responsibilities :

The Director of Sales - Kroger will report directly to the Senior Director of National Accounts, playing a pivotal role in shaping and executing the sales strategy for the Kroger business segment.

This position will lead strategic planning, manage top businesses, and drive consumer and category insights. Additionally, the Director will cultivate new business relationships, enhance collaboration with Kroger, and envision the future trajectory of Del Monte Foods within the Kroger enterprise.

This role will directly lead and oversee a team comprised of 1 direct report as well as a dedicated team of dotted line reports of analysts, insights, and finance.

They will be responsible for building a high performing team through hands on coaching in the market as well as in the retailer call environment.

They are responsible for all staffing decisions and will work cross functionally with Marketing, Innovation, Supply Chain, and Finance on a regular basis.

Key Responsibilities Include :

  • Strategy Development : Establish a visionary strategy to expand distribution of Del Monte Foods' core and innovative product lines, driving volume, margin, and market share growth.
  • Annual Operating Plan Development : Develop and align annual operating plans to achieve sales, profit, and market development targets.
  • Volume / Profit Delivery : Execute sales and investment activities to meet volume / profit objectives within budget, including trade spending and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Market Expansion / Business Development : Lead efforts to develop and expand business at Kroger, identifying new revenue streams and eCommerce strategies.
  • Customer Management : Foster deep partnerships with Kroger stakeholders, facilitating joint planning discussions and regular business reviews.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership : Collaborate with internal teams (Marketing, Innovation, Supply Chain, Finance) to execute business plans and align with customer expectations.
  • Team Management : Lead and develop a high-performing team, providing hands-on coaching and fostering a positive work environment.

Qualifications :

  • BA / BS required; MBA preferred.
  • Overall 10+ years’ experience; 7+ years within CPG industry.
  • Must have previous experience successfully leading teams.
  • Visionary, positive and energetic leader with a strong sense of urgency to create a sustainable winning culture.
  • Proven record of success in selling, winning and growing the traditional grocery retail business for the consumer-packaged goods industry.
  • Deep experience in leading large CPG selling teams w / strong track record of results and development.
  • Innovative thinker with strong quantitative analysis skills to identify competition, consumer and customer trends as well as an ability to identify new business development initiatives.
  • Proven record of opening and developing new categories and / or channels of business from the ground up as well building out new revenue streams with existing customers.
  • Excellent sales management background, negotiation skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong, strategic mindset and approach to business coupled with tactical execution skills.
  • Utilize industry knowledge and expertise to identify potential revenue opportunities through networking and aggressive field sales techniques, leveraging knowledge of market and industry trends, competitors, and leading customer strategies.
  • Ability to work cross functionally and at all levels of management both internally and externally.
  • Highly developed influencing and collaboration-building skills to meld the diverse components of the company together to achieve its common goal.
  • Ability to understand and analyze business trends and translate insights into strategy.
  • Genuine interest in the people and contributions made by others external to self / team members.
  • Ability to think and lead strategically.
  • Strong computer proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong operating knowledge in traditional CPG industry.
