Overview
Assist the VP of Litigation & Risk Services in providing legal and litigation-management services for long-term care and assisted living facilities.

- Assist the Vice President of Litigation & Risk Services in defending and managing all aspects of potential, existing litigation matters for the company’s long-term care and assisted living facilities, including but not limited to matters involving general liability and personal injury claims.
- Assist with the investigation of existing and potential litigation claims as assigned, including but not limited to interviewing witnesses, gathering and reviewing documents, and creating investigation files.
- Work closely with outside legal counsel in the management of assigned legal cases, including reviewing case evaluations for strategy, gathering discovery information, conducting staff and other witness interviews, attending mediations, and assisting with drafting and reviewing routine case pleadings.
- Review and manage outside legal counsel invoices and case budgets on assigned legal cases; regularly monitor and report on same, including on law firm overall performance and areas of opportunity.
- Personally handle assigned legal cases and matters appropriate for in-house counsel. Draft and assist with other routine litigation writings, including communications to plaintiff lawyers, demand letters, and settlement agreements, as well as other internal monthly and annual litigation reports.
- Manage and / or work collaboratively with in-house legal staff assigned to cases, including but not limited to paralegals, legal nurses, and other.
What you Need to make a Difference Juris Doctor (JD) degree required from an accredited U.S. law school Minimum of six (6) years litigation experience, with heavy focus in long-term care defense, required.
Must be a member in good standing of the Kentucky Bar (TN Bar admission a plus, or at a minimum, eligible for TN Bar limited certificate of admission as in-house-counsel).
Strong attention to detail and accuracy, excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize, coordinate and simultaneously maintain multiple projects with high level of quality and productivity.
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills. Demonstrated intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook, Internet and Intranet navigation.
