Civil/Structural Designer
Purpose
A Civil / Structural Engineer will be assigned to the individual so that specific skills and processes are learned. Work assignments are designed to further develop the individual's job knowledge and abilities, and the work will be done under direct supervision of the Civil / Structural Engineer.

Duties and Essential Functions
- Must be able to pass a federal background check and obtain a TWIC card if necessary.
- Prepare CADD drawings from design sketches and verbal instructions provided by the Engineer.
- Demonstrates a continuing awareness and implementation of safety practices in the workplace and in the production of their CADD drawings ("Safety in Design").
- Performs related support tasks such as updating computer lists, filing prints, distributing drawings, etc.
- Participate in company mandated safety and quality training.
- Prepare legible sketches and field notes that include all pertinent dimensions, notes, and job number.
- Uses time efficiently.
- Able to be a lead on singular Civil / Structural Projects.
- Ability to run a model review.
- Keeps supervisor informed of progress.
- Supports field assignments as required.
Education
The Designer must have a High School education (or equivalent), with additional basic drafting courses training from a vocational-technical school or other applicable program.
As an alternative, the Designer must have a minimum of two (2) years of education in an associate or bachelor's degree program at a university or community college for civil / structural discipline.
Experience
A minimum of five (5) years of technical work experience in the Civil / Structural field in the industrial industry is required.
Experience based on knowledge, skills, and abilities may qualify with the approval of the Civil / Structural Engineer. Individual must be able to work without being micromanaged and have a knowledge of common industry applicable deliverables.
Work will range from green field installations to modifications / repair installations.
Must be proficient in the following programs :
- AutoCad
- Microsoft office suite
- Autodesk Recap
- Navisworks
- CadWorx Structural

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may periodically be required to travel to other jobsites, as of the time of this publication the region is restricted to the lower 48 states.
The employee may be exposed to loud noises, moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, and the risk of electric shock.
Therefore, the Designer is required to use all precautions and to wear all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to ensure their safety.
