Technical Accounting & Valuation Associate / Senior Associate / Manager

Our client, a venture capital and growth equity firm, is looking for a Technical Accounting & Valuation Associate, Senior Associate, or Manager to join their team.

LOCATION :

Menlo Park, CA. Hybrid capacity, 3 days in office (M / T / W).

JOB DESCRIPTION :

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this position is responsible for accounting support for various venture capital / growth equity funds.

This includes, but is not limited to, technical accounting analysis, valuation work, performing the month end close process, generating reports, compliance work, conducting specialized research projects, and responding to inquiries as required.

Job title will be dependent on candidate experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES : (including but not limited to) :

• Analyze, determine and document the appropriate accounting method for certain investment transactions
• Review cap tables from portfolio companies and understand the implications of articles / charters
• Assist in evaluating the potential impact of investment transactions on financial reporting
• Collaborate with internal and external auditors to facilitate the audit process and address any audit findings
• Work on quarterly valuation of investments and investment fair value audits as needed
• Work on technical accounting analysis relating to investment transactions
• Assist in tracking portfolio company holdings from cap tables and financial highlights
• Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports
• Assist with both internal and external reporting requirements including internal investment level tracking and external LP reporting
• Assist in regulatory reporting as needed
• Prepare and develop management and ad hoc reports and analyses as needed
• Provide assistance with special accounting projects as required

REQUIREMENTS :

• 4 years industry experience preferred
• Public Accounting experience preferred
• Bachelor’s degree with concentration in accounting or finance
• Excellent computer skills including proficiency in MS Office applications with a heavy focus on Excel
• CPA preferred

COMPENSATION :

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure : Depends on role : Assoc.

$120K-$140K bonus / Sr. Assoc. : $140K-$180K bonus / Manager : $180K-$200K bonus.
