Life insurance provided for the employee only. General Description / Summary POSITION SUMMARY

This position will support faculty in developing responsive and innovative instructional design, and work collaboratively with faculty to create and enhance course design accessibility to support online courses.

Minimum Qualifications / Education and Experience MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Educational Technology, Informational Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Two years of instructional design and development work.- All candidates should have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity- minded practice in education.

Preferred Qualifications PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience designing and evaluating according to course design standards such as the .- Experience creating multi-media elements for online courses.
• Demonstrated knowledge of accessibility and usability standards, requirements and laws related to Section 504 and 508 of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Consults with faculty to identify, develop, implement, and evaluate tools and techniques to enhance teaching and learning in online instruction (synchronous and asynchronous).
• Assist faculty in integrating new online instructional tools into their teaching and converting traditional courses to online courses.
• Provide hands-on consulting with faculty on course design, course development, learning objectives, classroom management, active learning, assessment methods, and teaching strategies in online instruction (synchronous and asynchronous).
• Assist faculty and staff in creating and incorporating multimedia to support teaching and learning, including images, video, audio, and digital library materials using sound instruction design and pedagogical principles (Universal Design for Learning).
• Promote mastery of technology skills and pedagogy to design and deliver successful online courses and support services through group and individual training.
• Use creative approaches and innovative technology and pedagogy to address different learning styles, diverse student populations, variety of course content, and meet accessibility guidelines.
• Lead discussions on guidelines and standards for instructional materials.- Produce training materials including product evaluations and workflows.
• Create learning objects that can be deployed by faculty by discipline clusters (e.g., STEM). Knowledge, Skills and Abilities KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Requires a working knowledge of the degrees, certificates, and academic majors offered by the College.- Requires in-depth knowledge of instructional design, maintenance and review of process and procedures.
• Interpret, apply, explain, and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and College policies, procedures and regulations.
• Skill in designing inclusive learning experiences that accommodate diverse learner needs and preferences (Universal Design for Learning and accessibility).
• Participate in providing resources and support towards the goal of a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible academic environment.
• Requires thorough knowledge of proper English usage, grammar, spelling and punctuation.
• Requires sufficient human relation skills to convey technical concepts to others and conduct informational presentation to small groups.
• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with beginning and experienced instructors and technology users.- Meet deadlines and handle multiple simultaneous projects.

Work independently with little direction or as part of a team.- Develop recommendations and serve as a resource for improvement and instructional effectiveness in coordination with online education.

• Recommend appropriate use of technology for distance learning.- Assist faculty in planning, implementing and utilizing instructional technologies and pedagogy for online course design.
• Create customized digital instructional elements, resources and course templates for various disciplines.- Model consistent application of Universal Design for Learning and principles of accessibility and conspicuous use of Open Educational Resources and Open Pedagogy.
• Requires sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and staff.

Physical Abilities PHYSICAL ABILITIES

• Incumbent must be able to function indoors in an office environment engaged in work of primarily a sedentary nature.- Requires visual acuity and depth perception to recognize people, words and numbers.
• Requires sufficient hand and finger dexterity and hand eye coordination to use a computer keyboard and common office equipment- Requires speaking and hearing ability sufficient to hear over a phone and computer monitor and carry on conversations.
