The GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH) Quality Leader is responsible for driving quality strategy and a zero-defect culture for quality across the GE Vernova Nuclear business.
This leader will partner across the Fuels, Services and Advanced Nuclear Value Streams to implement, maintain and elevate the Nuclear quality strategy, including mechanisms to prevent quality issues and positively impact quality Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as Customer Events, Cost of Poor Quality and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) associated with operations.
This leader will lead the Nuclear Quality organization and report to the Nuclear CEO.
Essential Functions :
- Foster a zero-defect culture with the objective of providing products that are trusted and preferred by customers.
- Develop and drive the Nuclear quality strategy across all value streams and functions.
- Prevent defects by proactively driving built-in quality tools (PFMEAs, Control Plans) into processes.
- Lead efforts to review and implement learnings and industry guidance from INPO and nuclear industry customers
- Responsible for supplier quality and industry audits
- Protect customers through systemic root cause problem-solving, coaching teams to solve problems quickly with rigor and transparency and ensuring systems are in-place to leverage lessons learned.
- Create quality standards across the business and ensure team executes to those standards.
- Ensure that Quality Management System (QMS) requirements are effectively established and maintained in compliance with all regulatory standards.
- Be accountable for continuous improvement processes that boost operational reliability and operational excellence.
- Minimize CoPQ and impact KPIs such as Customer Events and NCRs.
- Lead the Nuclear Quality team.
- Build an inclusive culture by focusing on safety and quality and aligning with the GE Vernova Way, ensuring effective cross-functional communication and engagement with team members to ensure understanding and alignment with operational goals.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.
- 10 years of professional or military experience in Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain or Services.
- 5 years of management experience.
- Ability to work at the GEH headquarters facility in Wilmington, NC.
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time as needed to drive strategy, support customer meetings and connect with team.
Desired Qualifications
- Batchelor's or Master's degree in engineering.
- Nuclear industry experience.
- Strategic thinker with ability to drive a strategic change agenda across the organization.
- Ability to constructively influence, communicate and collaborate with multiple internal and external stakeholders to effectively define the big picture of quality success.
- Outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills, with strong credibility at all levels of the organization; demonstrated experience leading transformation in a dynamic environment.
- Proven mentoring and coaching abilities; demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire others.
- Strong analytical skills with ability to identify and explain critical issues to internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing Quality policies, procedures and practices in regulated, quality-focused industries.
- Strong knowledge of quality tools and processes, including Built in Quality (BiQ) tools, Stop Work, Management of Change, Statistical Process Controls, Quality at the Source, Mistake Proofing, etc.
- Knowledge and experience with the following regulations / industry quality standards : NRC 10CFR50 Appendix B, NQA-1, 10CFR21, ASME BPVC, ISO 9001 and 19443, IAEA GSR, CSA standards.
