POSITION OVERVIEW
The General Mills Milwaukee Plant manufactures and distributes snacks for the North American Retail and C&F Business segments.
The site’s product portfolio includes Chex Mix, Muddy Buddies, Bugles, and Gardetto’s. Located 6 miles south of downtown Milwaukee, the site was built in 1968 and owned by the Gardetto family until it was acquired by General Mills in 1999.

The Maintenance Lead 2 will be the owner & coach for three distinct pillars. They will be the owner of manufacturing analytics for maintenance, process owner for production planning and scheduling, and pillar owner for defect handling.
They will provide coaching to Maintenance Leads for increased alignment and capability in these sectors.
The ML 2 works to eliminate the top losses within their cell on a 24-hour, multiple shift cycle, through a comprehensive Daily Direct Setting system.
This position will utilize continuous improvement tools, principles, and rigor in a process and results (metrics) driven discipline.
They will have accountability for building technical capabilities and performance of the assigned operating team; specifically for operating maintenance, initial troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance on equipment / components.
A large part of the day will be spent on the floor with operations and maintenance teams building the team’s technical understanding and mastery.
This role is part of the Silver Cell Muddy Buddies Platform Team.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Role models Engaging Leader behaviors to build a high performing team.
- Accountable for the 24-hour results of the platform specifically related to safety and equipment reliability.
- Owns Preventative Maintenance daily management systems for their platform and accountable to coach / develop mechanical operators across the platform : Maintenance Planning and Scheduling : Plans, schedules, and assigns work (CM and PM) including shutdown planning.
Defect Handling : Facilitates documentation of standards with technicians and coach’s technicians through the identification, prioritization, and resolution of defectsBreakdown Elimination : Identification of triggers, tracking of BE status for system, and leads BE’s through countermeasure step.
PM Program owner for Silver Cell lines and equipment : Maximo data accuracy and subject matter expertPM Completion, Compliance, WO backlog maintenance and strategy to meet metric goals.
Maintenance & Reliability Cost and budget ownership
Leads use of our CMMS (Maximo) and drives accuracy / standardization of assets, job plans, and PMs as part of the Asset Care Strategy;
provides Maximo expertise and training.
- Plans parts, tools and labor for all maintenance work order types including human safety, food safety, corrective maintenance, and preventative maintenance (PM)
- Initiates purchase requisitions for materials, equipment, and services.
- Foster an inclusive environment where people work together to solve problems.
- Partner with Engineering organization on capital and product commercialization.
- Follow personal development plan to coach and develop other platform team members and MeOps.
- Project management skills with the ability to balance multiple projects at a time.
- Highly organized and detail orientated.
- Highly motivated, self-starter with the agility to pivot quickly adapting to priority changes in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to delegate responsibilities and provide timely feedback / coaching to team members.
- Able to cover the Platform Leader and Process Leader responsibilities in a short-term absence.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related degree with applicable experience or extensive relevant work experience
- Working knowledge of data systems including MAXIMO, MQIS, and GSTEMS.
- Demonstrated capability in application of Continuous Improvement Tools and driving reliability metrics.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3-5 years of experience
- Previous experience in a leadership or technical role or project.
- College degree or technical school completion

Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $68700.00 - $103200.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role.
The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc.
