Summary
A research technician position is available in Limbrick’s-Garcia-Bonilla’s lab at the Virginia
Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA, USA. The lab focuses on both basic and translational research
areas. Projects include analysis of neuroinflammation in cerebrospinal fluid clinical samples, in vitro
modulation of immune cells, and histological analysis of relevant developmental brain areas of different
models. Highly motivated, hard-working, and technically skilled applicants with relevant experience are

The lab technician will conduct / assist animal work including surgery, drug administration, behavior
tests, perfusion, and maintaining mouse colonies. Assist other staff and students in the completion of
protocols such as tissue processing, histological and immunohistological staining, Western blotting,
microscopic analysis, etc. Other jobs include ordering supplies, inventorying, and maintenance of
laboratory supplies, and disposal of biohazardous materials.
Typical Duties
Animal handling including all animal surgical procedures, drug administration, behavior testing,
perfusion, tissue collection, and processing.
Tissue processing, immunostaining, and stereological quantification.
General lab management : chemical and animal inventories; orders for supplies for all lab
personnel; routine maintenance of lab equipment.
Essential Hiring Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Neuroscience, or a related field is required. Demonstrated experience
working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a
staff member at VCU.
Experience in working with animals and cultures.
Background in cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, immunology.
Ability to work independently.
Good written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications :
Knowledge of safe laboratory practices is required for all job duties. Experience in a biology
research lab is preferred
