Job Description
Responsibilities
- You will conduct laboratory testing of materials and components with a Universal Testing Machine (UTM).
- You will create unique test setups and coordinate with in-house fabrication to implement new fixturing methods.
- You will perform corrosion testing with standard laboratory corrosion testing equipment.
- You will perform sample preparation, including cutting with precision saw, mounting sample, grinding and polishing.
- You will utilize hand tools, adhesives, coordinate with internal fabrication shops and a variety of materials to prepare test specimens for testing.
- You will perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment.
- Read and interpret test instructions, engineering drawings, schematics, and other technical documentation.
- You will document through pictures, videos, and written records the tests conducted in the laboratory.
- You will review and author standard operating procedures for current lab capabilities.
Qualifications
- Minimum Requirements :
- High school or equivalent with minimum 5-7 years previous technician experience, or
- Associate’s Degree with 3-5 years previous technician experience, or
- Bachelor’s Degree with 1-3 years previous technical experience
- Hands-on laboratory experience with Universal Testing Machine (Instron preferred), Corrosion Chamber, Grinding / Polishing Equipment, and microscope.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand tools and manufacturing processes.
- Proficient with spreadsheets, word processing, and other computer programs to aid in documentation and reporting.
- Excellent time management and communication skills.
- Solution oriented individual with a strong analytical mindset.
- Highly motivated, self starting individual with a broad set of skills and never afraid of facing complex technical challenges.
- You can adapt quickly or propose changes needed to achieve early results.
