Education / Certification : High school diploma or GED required. Must currently hold the ABROE or other certification or obtain upon eligibility.

Must have or be able to obtain CPR certification within 6 months.

Experience : Prior experience using computer software, preferably electronic medical records. Prior customer service experience preferred.

One year of Medical Office experience strongly preferred.

Essential Job Functions :

  • Answers telephone by identifying person answering and assisting callers in a pleasant manner.
  • Screening, prioritizing, and returning patient calls according to office procedure.
  • Schedules appointments according to office procedure and to patient’s need
  • Upon checking in a patient, acquires all necessary information (registration forms, insurance card copies, responsible party’s information, etc.

prior to physician seeing patient.

  • Accurately performs data entry on computer system for Billing and posting payment and gathering other necessary information.
  • Processes incoming and outgoing mail, records requests, patient documentation, etc. based on office procedure
  • Ensure smooth patient flow throughout the office by assisting in other areas when needed or as requested.
  • Always maintains patient confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines.
  • Communicates effectively by telephone and to the patient at his / her level of understanding.
  • Promotes positive public relations to patients, visitors, families, physicians, and others.
  • Physical appearance and conduct are consistent with acceptable professional ethics and CPC standards.
  • Maintains operations by following policies and procedures, reporting needed changes, and making suggestions for improvement.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records
  • Ability to type.
  • Ability to identify emergent medical situations.
  • Demonstrate positive customer service skills.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced work environment, multi-tasking.

Equipment Operated : Will use basic office equipment such as a computer, printer, copier, and fax machine.

Work Environment : Well-lit medical office environment.

Mental / Physical Requirements :

Must be able to lift at least 10 lbs.

Sitting 75% of the time

Standing / walking 25% of the time
