Coordinates activities associated with the Shusterman Implementation Grant, including the strategic coaching model focused on literacy, family engagement, Literacy stakeholder professional learning, and progress monitoring of City Schools' PreK-8 Literacy Plan.

This includes project management of grant-associated activities and strategic collaboration with relevant vendor / partner organizations to provide coaching and professional development content to teachers, school leaders, district leaders, and literacy coaches.

This is a grant-funded three-year position in alignment with the Shusterman Implementation Grant.

Essential Functions

  • Manages programming funded by or associated with the Shusterman grant, including developing long?and short-term strategic plans, and liaising with district office staff, school leaders, and external partners to ensure cohesive implementation of the district's literacy plan goals and initiatives.
  • Works collaboratively with the Literacy Director & the Literacy Coach Coordinator, and external partners to regularly monitor the literacy plan;

and utilizes data and timelines to assess progress toward achieving identified

  • Collaborates with the Family and Community Engagement office to support family engagement activities focused on literacy.
  • Adheres to the Office of Achievement and Accountability guidance on timely grant reporting, including descriptions of services, product and partner evaluations, and regular accounting of all expenditures associated with the Shusterman grant and works in partnership with the Fund for Educational Excellence to support budget management.
  • Coordinates and participates in school-based visits to observe and evaluate instructional practices, the effectiveness of coaching supports, and the implementation of research-based strategies for improvement.
  • Coordinates and develops ongoing professional learning opportunities for district and school-based staff to inform planning and instruction for diverse learners, promote the use of data cycles, expand literacy skill acquisition, and teach content knowledge and pedagogy.
  • Regularly participates in professional learning opportunities to extend content knowledge and expand capacity for coaching adults;

remains abreast of current research in high-quality coaching; and provides appropriate guidance for schools aligned with the district's literacy coaching strategy.

Utilizes resources appropriately to complete work in the most efficient manner; proactively communicates the status of work;

participates and contributes fully as a team member; and exercises sound judgment and decision-making skills to resolve sensitive matters.

Maximum Salary 125595.00

Minimum Salary 98301.00

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's degree in education or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Maryland State Department of Education Advanced Professional Certificate with an Administrator I
  • Knowledge of Maryland College and Career-Ready Standards.
  • Knowledge of the district's literacy goals and current research in literacy best practices.
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, rules, and policies affecting City Schools' educators.
  • Three years teaching experience in English / language arts in K-8 settings.
  • Three years' experience developing and delivering professional development to teachers.
  • Strong organization and strategic planning skills; ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Experience managing large scale projects that involve other stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of current research and best practices related to adult learning and facilitation.
  • Experience coaching and providing constructive feedback to teachers.
  • Demonstrates ability to maintain positive relationships with colleagues, students, and partners.
  • Demonstrates ability to lead and motivate a team of individuals.
  • Demonstrates commitment to educational equity and ensures compliance with laws, regulations, and established procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in the use of multiple computer applications including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office,
