Quality Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager

Salary Range : $80K - $90K
First Call Direct Hire is recruiting for a Quality Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist on behalf of one of our valued clients in Columbus, IN.
This role reports to the Plant Manager and is responsible for coordinating and executing Environmental, Health, and Safety programs.
The EHS Specialist will foster a culture of accountability and care for safety, ensuring compliance with both regulations and company policies.
The position involves frequent interaction with plant associates and participation in maintaining ISO 9001 and 14001 certifications.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop and implement environmental, health, and safety policies.
- Monitor operations for compliance with environmental regulations.
- Create and maintain reports documenting compliance activities.
- Educate staff on safety and compliance best practices.
- Lead internal and external audits for ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications.
- Assist with pollution prevention, waste management, and energy conservation initiatives.
- Conduct risk assessments, inspections, and audits to ensure a safe working environment.
- Manage emergency response plans and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain effective relationships with regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders.
Required Skills & Competencies :
- Knowledge of environmental and safety regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
- Experience with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with environmental management software and reporting tools.
- Ability to train and support staff in safety protocols and compliance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field is preferred.
Physical Demands : The role includes both office work and time on the warehouse floor. The EHS Specialist must be able to walk, stoop, kneel, lift up to 35 pounds, and perform other physical activities related to inspections and emergency responses.
