A mission-driven non-profit organization located in Manhattan is seeking a strategic and compassionate
Director of Human Resources
to lead its HR function. This role is ideal for a seasoned HR professional who thrives in a collaborative, purpose-driven environment and is passionate about building inclusive, people-centered workplaces.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with organizational goals and values.
- Oversee all HR functions including talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, compensation, benefits, and compliance.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on organizational design, workforce planning, and employee engagement.
- Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives across the organization.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Lead and support change management efforts as the organization evolves.
- Manage HR systems, policies, and procedures to ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Foster a culture of transparency, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree or HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) preferred.8+ years of progressive HR experience, including leadership roles.Prior experience in thenon-profit sector
strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and organizational development.Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
