Job Overview :
Our client, a growing accounting firm in the Chicago area, is seeking a qualified Senior Assurance Associate. This role involves leading assurance engagements such as audits, reviews, and compilations, and providing expert guidance on financial statements and internal controls.
As a key player in the firm, you’ll be responsible for mentoring junior team members, working on complex client matters, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Plan, lead, and execute assurance engagements, including audits, reviews, and compilations.
- Analyze financial statements and evaluate internal controls to identify areas of risk.
- Recommend improvements based on findings to enhance operational effectiveness.
- Supervise and mentor junior staff, providing feedback and guidance to support their professional growth.
- Handle complex financial transactions and assist clients with technical matters.
- Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and industry standards (GAAP and GAAS).
- Build and maintain client relationships, ensuring issues are resolved efficiently and on time.
- Perform additional job-related duties as needed.
Qualifications :
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in public accounting, with CPA certification being a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively explain complex information.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks Desktop and Online, Caseware, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), and Datasnipper is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to differentiate relevant from irrelevant data.
- A proactive team player who can also work independently.
- Ability to handle confidential information with tact and discretion.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to address client needs and present information clearly.
