Summary Description : The Director of Institutional Effectiveness conducts evidence-based research on the University through the collection, analysis, evaluation and publication of data for continuous improvement of programs and accreditation documentation.

The position leads accreditation efforts including program review, academic assessments, course evaluations, and University-wide self-study that support institutional goals and objectives.

Providing professional planning, coordination, and development for academic assessment programs and initiatives, in support of program and institutional accreditation goals and objectives.

Continually monitoring progress toward defined objectives by collecting and analyzing data and communicating with faculty, staff, and other constituents.

This role serves as primary lead for the coordination of the fulfillment of the institutional accreditation cycle.

Salary : $80k - $90k dependent on experience

Primary Job Duties :

Plans, develops, coordinates and implements accreditation, assessment, program review activities, course evaluations and institutional data reporting across the University;

continually monitors progress toward identified goals and objectives to support institutional accreditation and assessment.

Responsibilities fall into these primary categories :

Accreditation & Assessment

Serves as the primary point-of-contact for internal and external constituencies as it relates to school / University data;

directly liaises with NWCCU, compiles reports and information for dissemination to University administrators and core offices.

Maintain and apply current knowledge of accreditation, especially the regional accrediting body (NWCCU).

  • Serve as project manager for institutional accreditation cycle, including coordination of internal stakeholders to facilitate completion of all reports according to guidelines, and communication with institutional accreditation body, including the coordination of visits.
  • Collects, compiles and analyzes data for the purposes of accreditation, academic program reviews, self-studies, school / University-level decision-making, grants and other related activities.

Strengthens a culture of disaggregated data analyses and utility for targeted interventions and continuous improvements.

  • Develops, implements and evaluates methods for collecting and analyzing data; collaborates with technical personnel and / or directly manages technical platforms for collecting, maintaining and reporting data.
  • Interprets assessment findings; analyzes and compiles comprehensive statistical and narrative data; assists with the preparation of official assessment and accreditation reports to summarize findings.
  • Propose evidence-based recommendations for institution-wide continuous improvement.
  • Provides technical and professional guidance, consultation and support to faculty and staff as it pertains to division and University progress toward program evaluation, employee evaluation processes, and program accreditation.

Institutional Research

Provides leadership over external and internal data collection and timely submission including IPEDS, OAICU, NPSAS, NC-SARA and other state and federal data as needed to maintain compliance requirements.

Leadership

  • Chair and provide team leadership of the Institutional Effectiveness Committee and Academic Assessment Committee.
  • Lead in the development and adoption of policies, standards, rubrics and student learning outcomes.
  • Provide leadership in strategic planning, accreditation and assessment training and workshops.
  • Provide leadership in Watermark training.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Master’s Degree required.
  • Ability to formulate, plan and manage projects related to assessment and accreditation.
  • Experience with academic assessment, including the development and adoption of standards, rubrics and student learning outcomes.
  • Experience with assessment software.
  • Demonstrable experience in higher education, particularly related to academic assessment and accreditation.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • PhD or appropriate terminal degree.
  • Experience with IPEDS data.
  • Working with diverse populations.
  • 2 years’ experience with accreditation report writing, assessment planning, program review and course evaluations.
  • Experience working with Watermark software.

Physical Demands Work Environment : The position is located in a typical office environment. Professional / business casual attire is required.
