Restaurant Server Job Description
Position Summary
The restaurant server works under the direction of the Food & Beverage Director. His or her primary responsibilities include selling and serving food and drinks in a professional manner and providing exceptional service to guests.
Primary Responsibilities
- Serve 3 4 tables, as determined by management.
- Complete knowledge of hotel’s food and beverage preparation.
- Able to use a computer to ring orders on a check.
- Able to interact with guests in a friendly / fast manner.
- Able to accept different types of payment and make change.
- Maintain specific side-work and ensure the total cleanliness and smooth operation of the restaurant.
- Clear and reset tables.
- Check identification of guests to ensure they are of legal age to consume alcoholic beverages. Refuse to serve beverages in a polite manner to guests who are not of legal age.
- If consuming alcoholic beverages, observe guests behavior, and monitor alcoholic consumption.
- Treat all guests in a manner to ensure their complete satisfaction. Always strive to exceed guests’ expectations.
- Report to work in a neat and clean uniform. Well-groomed hair and personal hygiene are essential.
- Other duties as assigned
Education / Experience
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Minimum of 6 months server experience preferred
- Experience in hospitality preferred
- Possess basic math skills and cash-handling
- Licenses, certifications - applicable health and / or alcohol compliance card or ability to obtain as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Walking and standing throughout shift
- Frequent walking with some standing at times
- Frequently lifts / carries up to 25 lbs
- Able to reach hands and arms in any direction and kneel and stoop repeatedly
