Description

Salary Range : Please note the typical Hiring range is $45,000 - $50,000 per year. Job offers within the range are based on relevant job qualifications and pay equity.

This position contributes to the mission of the organization by coordinating with Material Surplus Recovery Operations (MSRO) partners to receive and ship medical supplies at the Tigard Distribution Center.

The Logistics Officer position will include working closely with other Distribution Center staff to ensure safe receipt, kitting, consolidation and loading of the received medical supplies for local and international distribution to people who are affected by disaster, poverty and conflict.

This position will also support the MSRO Program Manager in execution of Medical Teams’ Medical Surplus Recovery. This position also requires one to be cross trained to perform non-shipping and receiving functions for brief periods of time.

Parallel to technical competence, recruitment & selection, hiring decisions will give due emphasis to assessing candidates’ eligibility thorough background checks, police clearance, and professional reference check processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate local inbound and outbound shipments from MSRO locations and to existing MSRO partners through creating of bills of lading, shipment scheduling and high touch collaboration with all existing partners and Medline.
  • Collaboratively maintain accurate inventory of finished, work-in-progress and non-inventory pallets.
  • Systematically pull and ship product to minimize handling and maximize ease of distribution as directed by MSRO Program Manager
  • Oversee the preparation and loading of pallets into containers for shipment.
  • Develop standard operating procedures to program implementation and collaboration with external partners.
  • Support and implement MSRO Program with resell program
  • Support and implement MSRO Program with hand carry program
  • Coordinate collection of key commodities in Greater Portland area, and on occasion from Medline and other locations in Washington
  • Participate in Logistics, Medicine and Health Products and other team meetings.
  • Provide documentation to MSRO Program Manager for effective reporting using Core IMS and Excel to provide legible, accurate inventory document controls and monitoring and reports.
  • On occasion, use vehicles and equipment to collect, consolidate and load medical supplies
  • Maintain volunteer satisfaction by demonstrating encouragement, appreciation, and acceptance; provide clear directions and teach, build teamwork and camaraderie among volunteers.
  • Help volunteers to perform their task by often working with them side by side with them.
  • Liaise with Supply Chain and Volunteer Management Specialist and Warehousing and Inventory Officer on the efficient coordination of donor and partner shipments.
  • Maintains accurate inventory of unprocessed and finished pallets, inputting information into existing IMS systems to allow for detailed and accurate reporting for audit purposes.

Other Duties :

  • Utilizes volunteers whenever possible.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Support safeguarding of program participants and employees through promoting an environment of awareness and upholding the code of conduct provisions of Medical Teams Protection from Sexual Exploitation & Abuse, Child & Vulnerable Adult protection, and harassment-free workplace policies.

Incumbents will remain alert and responsive to any child and adult safeguarding risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills which will enable you to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the child and adult safeguarding policy and procedures, and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the Safeguarding code of conduct and behavior expectations.

Qualifications

EDUCATION :

  • Required : High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Preferred : Associates Degree or higher

LICENSURE :

  • Required : Valid driver license (good driving record).
  • Preferred : Forklift, Scissor Lift certificate.
  • Preferred : CDL.

EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED :

  • Minimum 2 years’ warehouse experience, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years expediting and supply chain experience.
  • Experience training or leading others.
  • Experience planning and delegating work assignments.

PREFERRED :

  • Medical material knowledge.
  • Experience working with volunteers.
  • Inventory reconciliation experience
  • Experience operating a forklift, scissor lift, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment.

  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office : Word, Excel, Outlook email and calendaring.
  • Intermediate skills with Internet, intranet, and Client Relations Management (CRM) software.
