Peer Recovery Specialist / Community Services Associate III (Full-Time)

A Peer Recovery Specialist or CSA III is needed at an inpatient women's substance abuse treatment center in Charlottesville, VA.

Our client is a long-standing non-profit behavioral health organization that focuses on patients first, providing a full scope of behavioral health services to all ages in outpatient, inpatient, and crisis stabilization settings.

This position is for their new residential substance abuse treatment center for women. The program houses 12 women at a time for up to 120 days, and if the patient has small children, she is allowed to have up to two babies staying with her (up to school age).

Salary and Benefits

• Starting hourly rate : $18.20 to $27.30 an hour (depending on experience)

Responsibilities

• 40 hours per week (full-time)
• Provide recovery support for residents of the treatment center, using your own life experience to coach and support residents in their recovery
• Work collaboratively with other treatment center staff to provide support and education for residents
• Perform some outreach and public education
• Establish and maintain rapport with clients and their families
• Scheduling needs may require you to work some evening and weekend shifts.
• Shifts are typically 4x10s

Requirements

• 1 to 3 years experience in substance abuse treatment
• Personal experience in recovery is required
• At least two years of sobriety is strongly preferred, but not required.
• High School Diploma or GED
• Certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist is preferred. If candidate does not have certification, must pursue certification within one year of hire.
• Knowledge of issues affecting women in recovery, especially those who are new mothers or pregnant. Knowledge of co-occuring / dual diagnosis (substance abuse and mental health disorders)
• Skills in counseling, group therapy, peer support, trauma informed care and crisis de-escalation.
• Full-time role (40 hours per week)
• Virginia Driver's License and acceptable driving record
